A major role in increasing cropping capacity belongs to plant growth and development regulators. Treating plants with them helps regulate essential processes in the plant body and fully realize the potential of a variety that has been established in the genome by nature and selection.
Growth regulators enhance plant resistance to environmental stress - high and low temperatures, lack of moisture, phytotoxic action of pesticides, vulnerability to diseases and pests.
One of the specific features of growth regulators is their ability to influence the processes that cannot be controlled by conventional agronomic methods of crop cultivation among which are irrigation, fertilization, etc. A widespread use of plant growth regulators with a diverse spectrum of activity considerably reduces the volume of plant protection products application for diseases and pests. Therefore, a comprehensive approach to the use of growth regulators characterized by growth regulating and immunostimulating effect in the system of other elements of technology is important today.
It is compulsory condition to assess pesticides, pharmaceuticals and other drugs for their toxicity and safety before registering them.
Melafen drug has no oral toxicity, acute inhalation toxicity or cumulative properties. It does not have irritating or sensitizing effect on animal’s skin; it only causes a slight irritation on mucous membrane of the eye (tearing, redness). All of this allows to attribute Melafen to class IV - low hazardous substances. Maximum allowable concentration in the air of the working area is 5.2 mg/m3.
The drug has undergone extensive field tests on different crops (rye, triticale, winter and spring wheat, barley, rice, peas, broad beans, corn; forage grasses - coarse millet, Shattercane, spring oilseed rape) in different regions of Russia (Ulyanovsk, Kurgan, Ryazan, and Penza regions, Krasnodar Territory).
Today Melafen is one of the most affordable products in the segment. The cost of one hectare rate of the drug is 35 rubles. The cost of a bottle for the treatment of 80 hectares, or 20 tons of seeds is 2,800 rubles.
Melafen drug has “Certificate of state registration of a pesticide or agrochemical № 2222” of August 16, 2011, “Certificate for the trademark (service mark): № 242737” of 2003, the Sanitary-Epidemiological Conclusion № 22.214.171.124.A.000459.08 .06 of 22.08 as well as a number of other documents confirming the safety and sustainability of the drug.
Using Melaphen (seed treatment) in technology of crop cultivation leads to a significant increase in productivity: crop yield raise of winter wheat is more than 12%, spring wheat is more than 11%, potatoes is more than 10%, peas is more than 9%, winter rye is more than 12%, winter barley is more than 11%.
Melafen is a high performance synthetic plant growth and development regulator used in agriculture and plant breeding. This drug is also used for bioremediation of soil from oil pollution. Using Melafen as BAS for biological treatment of wastewater leads to greater efficiency of wastewater cleaning in the aeration tank. It is non-toxic and has a positive effect at low concentrations (1·10-4 mg/dm3 – 1·10-8 mg/dm3). Other advantages of Melafen are the simplicity of its technological introduction and the reduction of time of biological treatment of wastewater and energy since the drug is used at the recovery stage.
